Why does my gel feel warm or uncomfortable in the lamp?Updated 8 days ago
You might feel a brief warm or tingling sensation when curing gel. This is called a heat spike, and it's common, especially with gel or thicker layers.
Why it happens:
- Gel generates heat as it cures under the lamp
- Thicker layers can cause a stronger heat sensation
- Nails that are thin or sensitive may feel it more
What to do:
- Gently slide your hand out of the lamp if it feels uncomfortable
- Wait a few seconds, then slowly reinsert your hand to finish curing
- Apply thin layers to reduce heat spikes
Pro tips: build thickness gradually instead of all at once, and let your hand rest briefly between layers if needed. The sensation should fade quickly and won't affect your final result.
