Why do my press-on nails feel uncomfortable or put pressure on my nail beds?Updated 7 days ago
Press-ons should feel secure, not painful. If a set feels uncomfortable, it's usually due to fit, curvature, or pressure, not the nail itself.
Common reasons this happens:
- The press-on is too curved for your natural nail shape
- The size may be slightly too large, causing pressure near the cuticle
- Pressing the nail down too firmly during application
How to fix it:
- Size up if you're between sizes, a snug fit should never feel tight
- Try gently reshaping the press-on (lightly filing the base or sides) before applying
- Gently press the press on nail down on a hard surface to flatten the curve
- Avoid forcing the nail to sit flush, it should rest naturally on your nail
- If a style feels uncomfortable after applying, remove it right away and try a different size or shape
Good to know: Different press-on styles can have different shapes and curves. If you prefer a flatter or more squared fit, you may find certain styles more comfortable than others.
