How can I prevent chipping and peeling?Updated 8 days ago
Long-lasting wear starts with proper prep, application, and dry time. A few small steps can make a big difference.
Prep your nails:
- Remove old polish and wash your hands, then fully dry nails
- Gently push back cuticles and lightly buff the nail surface
- Wipe nails with the Polish Remover Pot to remove oils and residue
- Avoid lotion, hand washing, or showering for 30-60 minutes before painting
- For even longer wear, apply Nail Primer before polish
- Nail Strengthener can also help add durability and extend wear
Apply polish correctly:
- Apply 2-3 thin, even coats
- Avoid thick layers, which take longer to dry and can chip more easily
- Seal the tips by lightly brushing polish along the edge of each nail
- Use the top coat that matches your polish formula for best results
Dry and protect:
- Allow adequate dry time between coats
- Avoid hot water, pressure, or heavy use of your hands for the first hour
- Reapply top coat every 2-3 days to help extend wear
- Avoid picking, peeling, or using nails as tools
When nails are properly prepped and polished, your mani can last 7+ days with minimal chipping.
